Ashland auctioneer White wins national auctioneers championship

 

ASHLAND, Ohio (July 24, 2013) -- When the nation's top competitive bid callers went head to head last week in Indianapolis, Ashland's Andy White walked away as the men's winner of the International Auctioneer Championship (IAC).

The competition is the climactic event of the annual gathering of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA). This year's competition drew 73 contestants in the men's division.

Marietta's John Dixon elected to Auctioneers Hall of Fame

 

ATLANTA (July 23, 2013) -- John Dixon, founder and president of Marietta-based John Dixon & Associates, was inducted into the National Auctioneers Association's Hall of Fame Thursday night when the nation's auction professionals met in Indianapolis for their annual convention.

Dixon was one of three individuals named to the prestigious body, which has admitted only 140 members in its entire history.

Wichita's Megan McCurdy wins international bid-calling title

WICHITA, Kan. (July 22, 2013) -- Wichita's Megan McCurdy took the top spot in the auction industry's top competition Friday, being named the 2013 International Auctioneer Champion for the women's division.

Megan, who has been involved in the family business -- McCurdy Auction -- since she was seven, beat out competitors from throughout the United States when members of the National Auctioneers Association gathered in Indianapolis for their annual convention.

Florida panhandle properties sell for $1.7 million in John Dixon auction

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 26, 2013) -- A standing-room-only crowd of real estate investors, individuals and other bidders jammed into a ballroom at Tallahassee's Hotel Duval Tuesday for the auction of 61 properties for Centennial Bank.

The properties -- including condominiums, homes and home sites -- brought a total of $1.7 million, according to Buddy Lee, who manages Florida operations for John Dixon & Associates.

Indiana, Illinois land sells for $6.57 million in auction

SULLIVAN, Ind. (June 21, 2013) -- The auction of 1,035 acres of Indiana and Illinois farmland drew a standing-room-only crowd of approximately 250 people Tuesday, resulting in active bidding and strong prices.

Most of the tillable cropland sold to investors at prices reaching $8,373 per acre in the auction, which was managed by Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company and Murray Wise Associates.

Two days of Indiana auctions draw big crowds, resulting in sales of $12,997,060

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (June 12, 2013) -- Strong crowds of farmers and investors turned out for back-to-back farmland auctions in Terre Haute and Oxford, Ind., Monday and Tuesday. The properties sold for a total of $12,997,060, according to R.D. Schrader, president of Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company, which managed both events.

"We had excellent crowds two days in a row, with good participation from both investors and operating farmers. There was intense competition between bidders seeking large amounts of land and those seeking smaller amounts," said Schrader.
